Honestly. I absolutely adore the graphics and ease of programing on the platform, but what kills it? All the damn provisioning profiles and app ids and distribution profiles and public and private keys. It's insane. You would think that with Apple's policy of simplicity that, that would also carry into the development areas. It's still kind of hard to get everything right, but ever since they allowed you to sync your developer account directly in Xcode to download profiles, my life has been almost bliss. I would really recommend anyone with a programming knack to check out the iOS SDK, and maybe even become a developer and release some great new ground breaking apps!
Ok, after a killing 17 hours in line I finally have it! So much time went by I can't even describe it. The worst part was was that I was all out of battery by about 8:00 :/ so I had another 9 hours of basically just sitting! I won't try to describe what it was like, you need to do to figure out for yourselves! But I'm going to add all the pictures and videos I took so here they are:
Ok I've typed like 3 updates on this now but none of them will get posted from my jacked up iPhone! I have lots of pictures and several videos to post once I get home! Not sure how I'm still awake though... But I'm crazy tired! I need some Redbull or something..well that's all for now! 2 hours to go, 153 in line! Wahoo!
We just arrived at the Apple Store and the lines are huge! We went up to the guys at very front of the line who have air mattresses and asked them how long they had been waiting there. They replied that they had been there since TUESDAY!! Well, we've heard a few people that they have 1,800 phones, 1,100 are reserved so that leaves us about 700. Not too shabby I guess, but it's gonna be a pretty long night!
Hopefully I'll get some pics up soon! iPhone tethering not working so good haha. I'll keep you guys updated!!
Hey guys! I wanted to post a quick thing since it's been a few days. I've been coding and designing like crazy these last few days, and in the midst of it I found this site: http://glyphish.com/ They provide FREE icons for your apps! Most of them are too small for the actual icon, but they work wonders to put on UITabBars, ECT. Well I just wanted to give a shot out to theses awesome guys for giving away their awesome icons. Be looking for them in the MattsMarket app (which I'm pushing to release in the coming weeks! Have a good day! Thanks for reading!
These past 2 days have been without internet, which is never good. Luckily I'm back on and have a few updates: First off, I was unable to reserve myself an iPhone 4. So, it looks like I'm going to have be there around 2 or 3 AM. Also WordPress 3.0 is out and I'm pretty excited! I am still waiting to for all my plugins to update then I'm going to upgrade! Last thing is is that I am still trying to submit the MattsMarket app to the appstore, but I still get that same error. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Oh well...I'll get it to work eventually! That's all I've got now. Have a good Friday!
Today is the first big day! The brand new iPhone 4 was released to the online world today for pre-orders. I have been up since 6:00am trying to reserve mine but I keep getting these nasty little errors.. Hopefully I'll get it all ready today so I can "stroll" into the Apple store on the 24th and pick up my iPhones and be on my way Anyways, as I said last time I was talking about the iPhone, we're looking at about $200 for the 16GB and about $300 for the 32GB iPhone if you are eligible for an upgrade, otherwise it's gonna be another $400 each! BUT, I have good new for you! If you haven't checked your AT&T account in a while I suggest you do because AT&T has been "generous" enough to offer all customers due for upgrades in 2010 and beyond an $18 fee to upgrade to the a new iPhone! That sure beats $400. If not, you'll have to wait until probably February next year to upgrade. Well, that's basically all I have on the matter as of now. I'll keep you guys updated when I get mine pre-ordered!
I have been working very hard these last couple days to push the MattsMarket app out of development and into the production stage, but Apple is holding me back. I love Apple and their products, but iTunes Connect (Where I upload my apps) is a huge pain in the you-know-what. Ok, last night I'm all happy; I finally finished all my debugging and coding so I made a few builds, and they all ran fine. I zipped up the 3.1.2 SDK build and uploaded it to Apple. A few seconds later I'm getting error messages saying that "Apple is not currently taking submissions from this Base SDK". I thought, "No problem; they must've all ready be onto 4.0". So I download the 2.2GB DMG for the new Xcode, installed it, change my build SDK to 4.0, ran it (It all went well), then I zipped the new one up and uploaded it to Apple. Still an error! AND it was the same exact error as last time! I don't know what I'm doing, but it's not right is for sure. Apple needs to rethink the developer side of submitting apps.. As I said earlier: It is a huge pain in the you-know-what! All the keys and provisioning profiles. All the certificates and contracts! I would love to see a normal person try and submit an app to the app store.. It would be impossible! They'd never figure out how to do it! Even with Apple's instructions because they're unclear. I would love to see someone make an AppleScript to do this. I would easily pay $20, $30, $40 for it as would thousands of others. Well I will stop rattling on about Apple now..I'm sure you've all heard enough! Anyways, hopefully this will all get worked out soon! If you want to learn more about the app, check out the new tab at the top! The MattsMarket App tab to be exact! Well, thank you very much for reading!
For all those Facebook addicts out there I have a cure! You no longer have to sit and browse on Facebook all day just to chat with your friends. Facebook uses the same protocol as Jabber uses so adding your account iChat is a breeze. Just fire up iChat and open it's preferences. Click on the "Accounts" tab, then click the '+' button in the bottom left. For your account name type YOURUSERNAME@chat.facebook.com, then your facebook password as the password. Now, press the triangle by the "Server Options". Your sever is chat.facebook.com and the port is 5222 with no SSL. Ok, your all set! Just remember, when you go offline you actually have to change your status to offline! Away, busy, ect. don't work sadly. Anyways...Thanks for reading!!
